We will be welcoming you to BLE and you will be able to do your check-in, so at the next events you’ll just need to show your bracelet.
This is the best moment to start meeting some of the best hoppers that you’ll share the festival with. It will be a relaxed atmosphere but but giving a first warning to your legs of what is coming over them 🙂. We’ll let you start warm up for the 3 days of dancing that will come, but the main mood of the party is that we begin to know. We will open a room in the heart of Barcelona, 5 minutes from Plaza Catalunya, where there used to be a cinema, now we will dance .
Eva Fernández Trio won’t let you stop moving your feet!
We’ll dance in one of the lesser-known modernist buildings but not the least important, Casa Ramona. This old factory was built between 1909 and 1912 by Josep Puig i Cadafalch, who was one of the most brilliant architects of the Catalan modernist movement. He designed a model factory which for the first time was to consider the hygienic conditions of its workers. It has large windows and high ceilings to provide well ventilated and bright working quarters.
Place: Metro Diagonal (green line), exit Paseo de Gracia, opposite Palau Robert
Julia, your guide, will teach you the most emblematic buildings on this avenue: Can Fuster, Casa Batlló, La Pedrera, etc.
As a result of the US Prohibition Act during the 20s and 30s, many underground bars opened and encouraged clandestine activities. Forbidden encounters where people played, drank and practiced a frenzied dance called swing.
Tell your close friends that on the 15th we’ll be travelling back in time. We’ll go to the 30s, the prohibition era, where gansters ruled the streets and dancers ruled the Savoy, the mythical dancehall that started it all.
Dress in your most vintage clothes: baggy trousers, buttoned shirts, suspenders, straight or bow ties, beret or hat for him and long dresses, flying skirts, cool blouses and hair diadems for her, together with your best 30s hairstyles. Above all, get those swing dancing shoes ready!
So who’s getting on stage tonight for us? Imagine one of the most unique and acclaimed voices of the current Spanish jazz scene, accompanied by one of the best Belgium swing bands. Susana Sheiman and the Connection Bam: An explosive swinging cocktail that won’t let your feet stop moving
Shhh, remember that you can only tell your closest friends! Don’t let the police find out!
Another frenzied dance marathon. From 8pm to 2am. If you’re still up for it, we’ll head down to the beach for more dancing.
Sunday morning, we’ll have a chance to dance on one of the most traditional city bandstands at Ciutadella. Smack-bang in the middle of one of Barcelona’s city parks. This venue is a classic for outdoor jazz jams in Barcelona.
The “Paella gang” will then head down to the Barceloneta.
***NOTE: In case there are too many people joining us or that the bandstand is occupied, we’ll change the venue to Passeig Lluis Companys. Just as we did in the 2017 edition.
We can’t end the exchange by doing something other than dancing!! So we have decided to finalise the event by the sea and with a live band.
Dani Alonso and his friends will be putting the final notes on this BLE and our sore feet will have to make their last effort to keep up with their rhythm.
The venue: Barceloneta Park. This park is located next to the sea, in a land where once was a factory of Catalana de Gas. There is a water tower and the metal structure of a gasometer, designed by engineer Claudi Gil Serra in 1868.
